the wheels on the bus go round and round

dont ask me why the sudden urge to blog cos i've NO CLUE AT ALL what i'm doing here at 1.30am with impending monday blues the moment i open my eyes.

HAHA. can just imagine the english teacher going TSKTSK, at my poor sentence structure above. a mightly long sentence with no commas, what say you. i say, I LIKE! xD NEH MIND NEH MIND, DU LAN DU LAN, BO CHAP BO CHAP!

just came back from FOC, with all the fun cheers still stuck in my head(: -as can be seen from above- can't bliff that these 3 months of hols have just flown past so quickly, but if there's one thing to say, i def enjoyed it loads :D

work; i've nvr imagined it cld be so funn, well maybe a big part of it was cos of YOU. but i loved my colleagues, loved the org culture, loved how they treat me so well, loved how they gave me work tt taught me stuff tt cld nvr be learnt from books, loved the gossip sessions, loved the muffins/pineapple tarts/cheesecake y'all made and shared w me, :) . thats not saying tt office politics dont exist, but office can be a warm cheery place where ppl care and share too! :D taiwan; loved the food and shopping to bitsbitsbits! hahaha tks to wenhui, joel, and bingyi for being such great company. xiaozhu is really gdlooking in person, the ahzhong meesua, AUTHENTIC paopaocha which puts sweettalk to shame, and the shihlin JI PA, were the best! the shopping frenzy was AWESOME, and holidays are shiok cos you can spend like nobody's business, and you dont feel have to feel guilty at all!

but alas, sch's abt to start and i'm soooo dreading it. gotta snap myself outta holiday mood and get my GPA 5.0 this sem! haha, just kidding (x

and guess what, we're gonna have an assignment released at 9am (thats 7.5h from now) thats due on tues! what kinda life is that man.

gonna sleeep now, i can't find my retainers, HELP!

Hugh Grant acts as an unemployed, middle-aged adult in the movie 'About a boy'. In the show, he defines life, or a day, as made out of 'units of time'. One unit of time is thirty minutes and thus, one day is made up of 48 units of time. Such a definition helps people who have absolutely no job, no commitments, and simply looking for ANY actitivities to fill up their 'units of time'. Which applies to me currently.
Of course, sleeping helps a great deal as it takes up a whole eighteen units! Which leaves thirty units for each day. Lets see how I settled this thirty units yesterday:

11am-12pm: wake up at becky's place, bum around and play with hamsters (2 units)
12pm-1pm: walk to clementi market, buy lunch and eat (2 units)
1pm-2pm: logs in online and sees the link huiwen left on msn for me, thus proceeds to shop online (2 units)
2pm-3pm: help becky do Pri 6 math problems for her tuition kid. (2 units)
3pm-4pm: travel to BBDC (2 units)
4pm-6pm: Driving (4 units)
6pm-7.30pm: Buy dinner and squeeze with rush hour on public transport which proves to be a torture. (3 units)
7.30-8.30pm: Eat dinner while watching hk drama (2 units)
8.30-10.30pm: Chat on MSN and settle ibanking procedures (4 units)
10.30pm-12am: Play The Sims (3 units)
12am-1am: Toss in bed and count sheep until i fall asleep (2 units)

It strikes me that although I am unemployed, there's never a time where I: do nothing and stare blankly at the wall (5 units). Somehow, i've managed to squeeze in activity after activity to fill up my units of time. Like how I can log in: type meaningless post in huiwen's blog (1 unit), for today.
Counting down, 3 more days to Perth!

with half a foot and three quarters of a brain into lalaland, i shall nonetheless bravely attempt to blog abt the past few days of my life (: haha now, after that powerful sentence(YESI INSIST), there's only abt one tenth of my brain power remaining O.o hurrs.

sentosa + stayover at jingsheng's house with hc oac on saturday! fun FUN and still MORE FUNN :D time flies when you're with ppl you feel comfortable with, and i rlly miss this bunch of ppl whom are always so spontaneous and funloving! played volleyball, frisbee, tho not for long cos the sun was scorching HOT, and wells, our stamina rlly cmi alr. i nid to exercise! had dinner at marche after tt. ROSTI yumms(:

upon reaching js hse, we set up 2 mahjong tables, one playing money and one playing NO TAI. haha (noobs!) jus kidding! being the uber PRO me, of cos i belonged to the former. hahaha sab and weijie din wanna play money, but guess who lost in the end?! the ppl who wanted to play money, aka chuanwei and me. haha oh wells, whats new! but MAHJONG had nvr felt so fun. i was a happy loser (:

reached home early in the morn, dropped dead on bed w a pissed mum nagging in the bkgrd, and woke up again in the evening, just in time to catch waterfools, one of the highlights of waterfest at boat quay w russell and yawen! haha YAWEN being soo nice, (hahaha did i leave out anyone?) went to chop seats early at harry's so tt we had a front seat view of the river where the performance was gonna be. thkew(: the perf was intriguiing, cos i had no idea how the props cld manoevure (damn i cant spell, heck) themselves on the water, and how the cast cld balanace so well on the tiny platforms! the plot (if there was one) was either too abstract, cos i totally din get the musical at all. ohwells, the fireworks were nice tho! (: ended up watching the f1 race on the teevee at harry's bar. haha cos we were too lazy to move. and omg the race is 78 laps! imagine a 300km/h vehicle zooming ard the track 78 times! a total waste of petrol man, with the rocketing oil prices -.- qt exciting to watch tho, esp those accidents and spins! haha(x

work's been okay(: i feel like i'm doing accounting homework, cos most of my work involves excel wkshts! haha and its amazing how work hasn't repeated itself, so everything's a new challenge to me. am really grateful for nice colleagues i have(: i've endless supply of food tks to them, and i'm always snacking 3/4 of my time working. thats 6hrs omg! F-A-A-T.ughs.had dinner at some nice ambience place at haji lane w ambern tdy, celebrated yawen's and cheryl's bday(:

realised i hvn been spending much time at home, and i've been incurring my mum's wrath more and more often o.o

this is rach

my life has been slightly more happening lately. been going down to bbdc for driving lessons almost everyday. and everytime i go there i see a familiar face! like alice, chaorong and amandie! one driving lesson can take up half a day including the travelling time, the next half day can be taken up by cooking/ meeting up with friends/playing sims/ watching videos. haha maybe i don't need a job afterall. i'll be a full time driving student! hopefully can get my licence soon!

on thurs night i went to queenstown (some charity/counselling center) to give tuition to sec 4 girl. i guess she's there cos of some family issues which i'm not sure abt yet. my 'job'(not paid of course) is to give her tuition in english and math and to get to know her better and somehow influence her? so during my first lesson, she took out this piece of paper that stated her holiday homework. it was sooooo long omg i really doubt i can finish that if i were in sec 4. it would require one to do at least 1 exercise per day for the whole hol and i dont think she was ready for such commitment. i rmb hating math like crazy in the past. but i guess the difference is having the motivation to try and entirely giving up. her ambition is to be an air stewardess. and i can totally understand her frustration in trying to do math problems like finding root of 2025 using prime factorisation. i mean, just use a calculator for heaven's sake! plus i would say she would make a really good air stewardess. haha but lets not undermine the purpose of education. i think she's a really intelligent girl, just that she has absolutely no interest in what she's studying at all . which as i mentioned, really understandable. the problem is, i'm not exactly the best person to be giving math tuition to a sec 4 girl. pri 4 maybe, but not sec 4. but somehow, something tugs at my heart and i do feel the need to help her improve a little, to at least gain some confidence that she can achieve something if she really puts her heart in it. it does suck trying and always failing and then believing you will never be anything good. so i'm going to popular this weekend to pick up the sec 4 textbook and complete all the exercises before i see her each week. haha my math is going to become v zai! (:
had seniors' camp for hss yesterday! which wasn't too bad actually, considering how much i hate camps. but it was considerably fun since i had nina, shuwei, andy and charlene arnd with me. was quite slack too cos we could escape from stuff we didn't wanna do (like pool games). fright night preparation was quite fun too! and i made a few friends from the senior batch like jackson and kai who kept making us laugh like mad and feeding us with tiger beer the whole time. i realised being a ghost on fright night is uber boring! luckily i had charlene with me to gossip while waiting for the groups to appear at our station. but it was damn amusing to suddenly creep up on the group when they didn't notice and make them jump HAHA. i was totally laughing behind my red veil man. i really seem to think that ppl from hss are quite like-minded and it feels good to be able to talk to ppl i don't know and find that we can click. why was it so difficult to make friends in hall? is there really a disproportionately large no. of weird ppl in my hall? or is it just me. hmm.
i realise some thoughts always manage to slip into my mind all the time when they're not supposed to. 我为你找了一百个理由我就是那么傻.

my spending habits have deteriorated. 250 bucks per week spent last wk = 1000 bucks per month! i'm gonna become a bankrupt even before i get my salary la! HORRORS. no more going out for me! ohnooo but its the great singapore sale starting tmr.

tmr i've got early day off! WHOOOOOOTS. cos its some family day thing, so all staff is given 45 mins early release to spend time eating dinner w yr family? hahaha i'm not complaining! and to think i've survived one week at work alr! (: and i've got a really cute potted plant at my desk, cos everyone else does and it tempted me so! haha he's called mr beautiful and sadly, he's but an OUTDOOR plant. note: outdoor and office so doesn't go tgt. i only can cross my fingers and pray tt he doesn't wither and die soon. i wonder if plants are scared of the cold. cos if they were, mr beautiful would be dead in no time cos its freezing cold where i am! O.o

okay i'm starting to like eng songs thanks to russell! i'm yours by jason mraz is really really nice (:

oh and i'm taking off my braces nxt month hurrays! but today's dental was painful. and doesn't help that my dentist is an awfully violent person! you mite think violent = male, but she's a female! omg poor husband if she's even married! hahaha, cant eat properly for a few days i think. sobs. byeee i'm gonna mourn..

its been awhile

pretty tired now but i feel kinda obliged to blog cos my blog feels lonely and abandoned :( haha so here I am! not gonna do this in chronological order cos my overly exhausted brain will just die from trying hees. (hello! working is tough you know) shall randomly ramble as i usually do(x HAH.
here goes; cut off pt for hall this yr is 15 for both guys and girls! and thats crazily high o.o cos staying in msia mite earn you max 9 pts for distance, the only what you can get above >6 pts is to be in the main comm of cca/jcrc. haha but you knw, main comm wont be main comm if everyone was in it! i received the email from SAO that my application was unsuccessful cos i've got only 13 pts. 6 for distance and 7 for ahhem, publicity comm smth (issit?), okay la qt unethical cos its abit kao guanxi one. hehs. but guess what. PHEW, i got an sms today telling me i'm on the recommended list! so hurrays(: i get to stay in hall next sem!

been lunching w my dept head and 2 other seniors there. haha they brought me to all the coffee shops with gd food i nvr knew existed, e.g. the chicken rice with ALOT of charsiew, prawn mee, etc! and lunching w bigshots def has its benefits. and tt includes sauntering into the office half an hr late hurhurs(x i finally talked to the other temp staff there! its a gd start and she seems rlly friendly! yays tmr!

stumbled upon a treasure on vesak day w rach and william! haha this thai restaurant that reminds me so much of curry wok, a place i used to frequent in my hwachong days, which has very good food! pad thai and the tomyum fried fish soup is at least as nice as thai express, but only half the price! v good deal! haha and to think william wanted to sit outside, when he perspired so much when sitting in the airconed place. haha who said green curry isn't hot!

finally won at mahjong last fri! haha okay i wldnt exactly call 1.20 winnings but still, at least i din lose! hahaha change of luck at last! :D

ben and jerry's today w wenhui and russell! YUM :D but their sorbets rlly cmi la! not that i wanna say. and SOMEONE so inconsiderate la, dunno who. wenhui dont like to eat mango still order mango! (haha note, there's only 3 ppl in the picture)

first day of work!

first of all! bingyi why are you sounding like me! since when did you ever start sentences with omg. like, COPYRIGHT! hahaha but thanks for sheltering me tdy(: i still refuse to bring an umbrella to work tho. soooo aunty!

haha first day of work was.. BORING! although i guess i'm considered pretty lucky. cos i got to do posting of general ledger to the income statement! but HOLY. one month has like 30 over wksheets in excel. and some of the ledgers have digusting descriptions. like Acc1 ZF trms v damper. like ?!?!?! and many different variations of THAT same thing. hrumph (><) and staring at the comp screen is just so taxing! but i survived(: and i completed the income statement for apr 08! WHOOOOOTS :D crosses fingers and hope tt they're no mistakes! but still got B/S to do tmr.and i forgot what i was supposed to do alr.

the office is qt huge cos the finance dept alone has 50 plus staff i think! and they even have separate sub-depts.and throughout the day, there's nonstop chattering to my left (where the non high ranking ppl are) i assume. cos they talk abt how to con an mc out of the doc, bitch abt old uncles tt keep chasing them for invoices, and other totally random stuff. hahs, kept me qt amused(: but the sad thing is, i dont see any young ppl ard me and i dont know who the temp staff are! so din make any new friends. except for this other temp staff doing customer service which i met while waiting for my supervisor to come(: too bad she's not working w me.

uhoh.its past twelve! i better sleep now if not i'll get fired on my second day of work. haha(x

3.went down to sign contract with recruit express. my agent's so cute! xD who needs job go look for him! he's also a temp staff recruited by recruite express while looking for job. haha how ironic!
4.wahjong hahaha only further reaffirmed my bout of bad luck! better stay away from REAL mahjong (in other words, russell teng) in the meantime!

blogging in point form cos i'm supposed to be asleep now! first day of work tmr! hope all things goes well(: SMRT seems to have a nice organizational culture! oh wells, we'll see(:

FOUND THE MONEY! :D

haha didnt have time to blog ytd after dinner cos i was subjected to slave labour then coercion into another round of MAHJONG at sab's house -shudders!-

dinner first! didnt know such a YUMMY food place actually existed a few steps from my house! dad mum and i went there for a nice sumptuous dinner tt cost 90+ for 3 pax. hahaha pretty ex but no heart pain cos my dad sponsered(: BLACK PEPPER CRAB + POMFRET STEAMBOAT + HOTPLATE TOFU = HEAVEN! :D best dinner i ever had for a longlong time!

nxt, slave labor. it being mother's day, naturally being the filial daughter i am -coughs-, i acceded to ALL her requests! (well, maybe except for one, the M letter word tt involves losing lots and lots and lots of money?)and tt included tidying up the horrendously messy storeroom. 18yrs of junk and whatnots accumulated in that tiny space piling all the way to the ceiling is no joke man! sweated and toiled for 3hrs transporting unwanted stuff to and fro my house and the void deck rubbish dump.with my mum's help of course.she's one brave woman(:

THEN, mahjong! hahahaha despite the minor loss i suffered the previous day at prince william's house JUST the day before, i was once bitten but twice UNSHY. did not learn my lesson and went to gamble again! this time with kiap, russell and sab! hahaha played one round which lasted for FOUR hrs from 2am till 6am.omg damn slow! considering the day before we finished one round in ONLY two hrs! haha thanks to ppl who five tai zi4mo1 like nobody's business o.o -stares accusingly- YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! hahaha(x ultimate winners were sab and kiap, while i lost TWENTY BUCKS ): in one round yes.sobs! haha russell lost FIFTEEN.but plus petrol i think he lose the most, poorthing.this is what i call KARMA! hahaha okay just kiddin(x thanks for the lift there and back ya! maybe. JUST MAYBE. there's actually a glimmer of a gentleman in him.hahas(:

napped for 3hrs after i reached home! had a very unpeaceful sleep i must say.cos i kept being woken up by agency ppl calling me, haha must have given incoherent answers then O.o went for my job interviews after tt.

and i'm proud to announce that i'm finally HIRED! :D am now a faithful employee of SMRT; earning 1400 per month. which means i'm no longer a potential bankrupt! HURRAYS(: in love with the ultra friendly and cute recep at SMRT, super bubbly! and the ppl there seem rlly nice! i feel blessed suddenly(: i've to say a big THANKYOU to my agent! cos actually he told me he cld only offer me 7 per hr.i wanted to rej the offer alr, but he told me to just go for it! cos no harm rejecting them even after you got the offer.so i just went for it! haha and 10 minutes after the interview alvin(tts my agent) called to tell me i've been recruited! WHOOOOOOTS! and they adjusted my salary too! he told me tt apparently govt based private listed companies like SMRT will report a lower salary at first cos they dont want you to work for them cos of the money! haha SCHEMING! but happy nonetheless(: cos i'm on my first step to recouping my losses for mahjong, then earning for my taiwan trip! haha went for another interview too at suntec (my dream workplace! tied in first place w the raffles place's skyscrapers) at some US mnc. hahaha shall reveal their really unimpressive company name..

QUANTUM STORAGE. aha. dont images of storage crates suddenly pop into yr head? but the work env seems pretty nt bad, and the accountant who interviewed me was rlly nice! but when she explained the job scope to me, i was pretty frightened cos it involved bank reconciliation, translating trial bal into bal sheet, P/L, costing! omg but of cos on the surface, i just pretended to be cool and unfazed(hees), and i actually got the job too! but i guess SMRT being a listed and known company with a higher PAY is better(: so yays!

met up with my ex colleague after that to watch ironman! haha it was surprisingly good! the optimal combination of humour and savvy high technology kept me entertained throughout the two hrs movie, with my jaws hanging in utter amazement half the time! :D i'd give a 4.5 stars rating! so go watch it if you hvn!

ooh, yes. hall eleven SEA EXPEDITION blasted a huge hole in my pocket. 82 including canvassing and the actual rental itself. very not worth it! its like paying 50 for the standard chartered run to torture yrself? yea same logic! but still i wld like to thank my poor partner chinkee, whom i splashed seawater on everytime i paddled.oops! hahaha shall attribute it to the lack of eyes on the back of my head(x self-serving bias? hahaha and, psychology strikes again! :D

shall make up for the lack of sleep these past few nights by sleeping early tdy! nights(:
